“Xindanwei Connect” workshop

On June 9, we helped facilitating a very inspiring workshop organized by Xindanwei, a collaborative workspace for creative entrepreneurs in Shanghai. They would like to upgrade their online community to make it a more effective collaborative web platform, so that people interested in social business can better connect, share resources and pursue new initiatives together.

We had 12 people from different industries (and countries!!). These guys were self-motivated and quickly entered into the brainstorming after a simple round of introduction. Habbi Belaribi from MakeSense hosted the session. We first generated a bunch of ideas with sticky notes about the different perspectives of our dream web platform. Afterwards, the ideas were sorted into different categories (also a natural process and the group just automatically discussed about it) and we explored them using the “anti-problem” technique. It allowed us to improvise some new features and added on top of the existing ideas.

The highlight of the session came out from the second half, when the group split into three smaller teams and each team picked up one feature as a demo which was then made into video-prototypes. We were so surprised by their hands on abilities in drawing.

Finally the team took turns to present their prototypes. After each round of presentations, the other two teams would act as a destroyer and rescuer respectively and examined the prototype. One of the video-prototypes is put below. Enjoy the great work made by this cross-cultural team!

Photo album of the workshop can be found here.
